Over the past week we finished Hamlet. It was very tragic, it was overkill with all the death (no pun intended). I would definitely say that the one of the main points to Hamlet is that they were so caught up with there drama that the basically forgot about the war going on with England and Denmark. Hamlet was so caught up with revenge and death that he let things get out of control. This also shows how things hardly ever go according to plan. Hamlets plan for revenge, Ophelia's plan to be with Hamlet, the kings plan to the other king kill Hamlet, Ophelia's brothers plan to kill Hamlet, and Gertrude's plan to be with the king. All of these things had a surprise twist, changing how their plans should have worked out. The story of Hamlet just taught us not to loose sight of what's important and to expect the unexpected to happen.

Over the past week, we've been watching Hamlet. We've learned about how the death of a loved one and revenge can change a person and drive them insane. After Hamlet's father died Hamlet pretended to go crazy all for revenge on behalf of his father. But after a while you can't tell if he's pretending anymore or actually crazy. So crazy he actually killed his girlfriends father. This death of Ophelia's and losing Hamlet as he went to England drove her insane. Then when Ophelia's brother lost his sister and father he seems to start going insane. It's tragic that everyone seems to be dying and going insane but that's what happens when you really love someone I guess.
This was a more creative week, we learned about what others think but how it all relates to the same thing. We saw these two (possible photo-shopped) pictures and wrote about what could have happened. We all wrote different stories but they were all kind of similar but all very different at the same time. We also picked out a word, phase, and line from a paper we read and then got in groups and decided which one fit best. Even thought we all picked different words, phrases and lines we all had the same idea. This week we also started to learn about Hamlet. He has an interesting story. I feel bad for him, I feel like he has a lot of emotions all going on at this point in his life that he's about to explode. His family and friends seem to think he's gong crazy but he thinks he's just acting but at what point does acting become reality? I feel like he's going to do something that he's going to regret. I know he's feeling overwhelmed right now but he needs to calm gown and take a step back before anything bad happens.
This week we did a retelling of The Pardoner's Tale on wevideo. It was stranger at first because I've never done anything like that before. I had to learn how to use that site, it was pretty complicated at first but by the end it wasn't that bad. Things like wevideo I'm just not that skilled at, I'm not creative. I can write a paper about The Pardoner's Tale just fine but to have me add pictures and my voice and other little choices you have to make when creating a video are hard for me when it comes more naturally to others. But I just had to work thought it and I finally learned how to put it all together to make a halfway decent video. Of course it would have been better without my voice but all in all. It's no that bad to make a video and i'm glad I learned how. I learned that it's still nerve racking when my video was playing, even worse then when your just presenting. The good part about wevideo is the flow and pacing was right on and it gave the people your presenting too something to watch and listen too.
This past week we read three Old English Poems and rated them on which one was the best, based on what we thought an Old English Poem needs to be considered a poem. We got to decide these factors or elements with partners, it makes me remember that everyone is different and has different thoughts. It's always a good thing to fill yourself with different people so you get different ideas on everything in life. If you have a problem, they might think of something really creative that you never would have thought of. I also learned no to do to much work because then others won't feel like they need to help and give you input, but you need that input so it's important to make sure everyone does a similar amount of work. We also learned that most people have the same ideas of whats in an old English poem but sometimes are wording is just a little different. Basically, I learned that we're all different but we all just want to be accepted.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this class, just on the computer everyday. Not knowing who our teacher is going to be and if he was going to be bland like computers are. But he’s not, he’s interesting and creative. He had us read a poem called The Moon by Robert Bly. Over the past week, we've learned a lot about the journeys hero’s have to take. There are many steps to becoming a hero, first there’s The Call where you get introduced to an adventure, offering us to face unknown and gain something of something physical or spiritual. Second there’s The Threshold or “jumping off point”, this usually includes a mentor of some kind. Next is the Initiation which includes all of the following steps: Challenges, Abyss, Transformation, Revelation, and Atonement. Finally there is The Return Where you would have a new level of skill of awareness, they can also return with a gift. We learned how many book and movies are based on heroes even if they aren't called heroes. Anyone can be a hero if you go a journey that includes these steps. We watched Star Wars and learned all about how Luke became a hero. Katness in The Hunger Games and Harry Potter are also hero’s. We also read some interesting poems this week.
